rain rain go away

never underestimate mother nature. we had quite a flooding scare this last thursday.   we have this really cool flood lake behind or house. I knew it was for flood water but couldn't even imagine how there could be that much water at one time to fill it up. well I learned.  the picutre is a little hard to see but on the far side of the lake there is a little gray/brown line of garbage. the water level in our lake was about three feet above that!
In this picture below the water was to the top of the two trees that are the furthest away.  It had been raining for about three days and the lake had flooded up to it's usual level and then on thursday it just wouldn't stop.
we were worried we had missed a hurricane warning or something so john asked suri (iphone robot) what the weather for cypress was supposed to be. she pulled up the 5 day forecast that had every day listed as thunderstorms. and she said "It doesn't look so good for you"   the weather is pretty bad when an app on your phone can tell you that you are in trouble.  at this point we were kicking ourselves for not having flood insurance.   later that night after the rain finally stopped. we got anywhere from 10-15 inches. I turned on the news which i never watch. they had news from the flooding all over and guess where the top stories were from? Mueschke Rd. that is the road on  the other side of these trees. I'm talking people rescued from their homes by boats. holding on to tree trunks so they don't get washed away, cars sinking into the deep water.  we were lucky! that all we got was a flooded lake and a extra deep watering of our lawn.

our Lawn is a story of it's own. the Friday after the flooding there were two guys trying to mow my neiboors lawn. I asked if they would mow mine too. the man looked at me standing in my shin deep think dark green grass and said. No!     Oh come on it can't be that bad!    well today I mowed it myself and the clippings filled up about 5 garbage bags,  so maybe it was that bad.

My sister Emily

I am doing a blog post about my younger sister Emily for her 23rd birthday. She did one for me last year and I wanted to do one for her.  Emily is the third oldest girl in my family she right in the middle of the five kids. She has already accomplished so much at much a young age.  She was married in the salt lake temple to her husband David and together they have two adorable boys.

Asher (2 ½)  And Bridger (10 months)  she was amazing to somehow complete her bachelor degree while balancing being a mother and wife.  Emily is always very energetic and wants to try everything.  If has an idea she wants to try it out.  She has started teaching a Latin Hip hop class to her community.  Dabbled in art, auto mechanics, welding, ballet, sewing, singing.

Emily is very adventurous and she doesn’t let things get in her way. She loves to try new recipes especially healthy ones. She is great at getting to know new people even if they don’t speak the same language.   She has a very loving nature towards her children as well as others children.

Emily is crafty and fun. She is always a good person to have around if you want to laugh really hard.  she will act silly with you and never cares what other people think.   Happy birthday Em. I love you!

Clean

I did it I finally accomplished a goal I have been trying to do since before I was pregnant with Knoxx. I had my upstairs and Downstairs Clean at the same time!  And when I say clean I don’t just mean straightened up for company. I mean fridge, cupboards, bathrooms, floors, all clean. How did I accomplish this amazing task. Well I don’t have the internet to distract me. (I am trying to decide between the lesser of two evils Comcast or AT&T. and the longer I go the more I like not having it at all. ) I also have realized that the days of having a nap are gone. I no longer have the excuse that I am pregnant and I am past the “Just had a baby” stage so I am giving up the mid day siesta.   In this newly reclaimed free time. I am cooking and cleaning more than I ever have and I am working on some other projects that will be mentioned in more detail when they are completed.

The boys are great. Knoxx is everything I ever dreamed of and more  in a little baby. He sleeps a lot and is so happy when he wakes up.  at his two month check up.  He Loves his mommy and likes to be held by me almost all morning. I usually put him in a sling to carry him around with me, which is getting harder since he is getting bigger. He is in the 93% for weight and height 14lb 4 oz   24 ½ inches tall.

Rocklond is learning how to do EVERYTHING by himself. He like to serve himself food and try and cut it up into pieces. He can buckle himself in to his car seat and he unlocks our doors.  He is good at checking out the books at the self serve station at the library, and can’t wait for me to read the books to him. He can hold his breath underwater for 10 seconds and he also knows the 4diget pass code to unlock John’s iphone.   His speech is coming along, although he gets frustrated fast when he can’t get the words to come out right.

We are good and healthy and loving life.

Viddos of kiddos

here he is pushing himself up! I am so proud of my little boy.
Knoxx turns 2 months old today! he is such a cute boy. my big boy Rocklond is growing a lot too. here is a little video of him playing with his toys. he has a really cute studder/stammer that I actually like to listen to. It reminds me that even though he is much bigger than Knoxx he is still my baby too.

My boys

Knoxx loves to smile and be happy. he likes to make really cute sounds.

rocklond is starting to really like his little brother he likes to make him smile. Rocklond also likes to say silly things. he was saying the blessing on the food and he said this :please bless Jesus come back to life, and please bless him in his cave. I think he lessened when we were teaching him about Jesus but he is missing a few things.

"but mom we don't want to go to bed!"

i finally tackled our front flower bed.  I layed out the plants I bought to see how it would look when I was done. you can still see what the flower bed had looked like fore the last two months. (dead )

it took me about an hour to get the plants planted and the weed barrier in place.

then i came back out after feeding the boys and putting them down for naps and  put down the rock and the mulch. I have now planed flowers in the pots and replaced the piece of wood with more edging.

I told rocklond we needed to get some water for Asher. I meant get a water bottle but rocklond had another Idea.  I guess he is just getting ready to prepare the sacrament.
My sister Emily and her two kids came to visit us this last week. adding two more kids to the mix of me still adjusting to two kids was a little crazy and stressful at times but we already miss having them with us so much.

Knoxx seemed like he doubled in weight while they were here.

wrestling in a photo shoot.

we took everyone to galveston.

even knoxx came out for a minute to enjoy the sun.

here are all 4 boys at the hotel when we stayed in galveston.  for the loveless family this pic should be really familiar of an old pic of us growing up.

New: Baby, floor and car

Knoxx at 2 weeks old

Knoxx is changing so much I took this picture today right before I gave him a bath. He is starting to be awake for longer. I am now running the house all by myself. my mother-in law left a few days ago and I already miss her help So much. she was such a blessing to have here.  when she arrived Knoxx was a week old and I still felt like i did the first day out of the hospital.  After her help for a week I am feeling so much better and I think  everyone is starting to adjust to life with our new little baby.

Knoxx has two dimples. One on each cheek, just like his dad. he sometimes gives me these little sleepy smiles and I can see them poking into his cheeks.

Rocklond is adjusting to being a big brother ok. He still is very clingy to me and doesn't listen to a word john and I say but he does like to come and rub Knoxx's head. and likes to help me give Knoxx a bath.

this is our family now. we took this when Knoxx turned two weeks old.  I think John got a better pic on on his camera phone.

We finally finished out bathroom floor. for the last 2 months we have had NO master bathroom. we had paid to have new flooring installed and the workers came and ripped out all of the carpet that was in there and took out our toilet and then realized that our floor was not level enough for the flooring we had selected. we spent the next two weeks trying to find a alternative flooring and finally just had to get a refund for the whole job. then we spent another two weeks finding something that would work. I found this vinyl planking stuff and ordered it but then it was back ordered and we had to wait for it to come in. it came in the Monday before Knoxx was born.

john started putting it in about two days after I got out of the hospital. and has been working on it for the last week. finally last night we got the toilet installed back in there and now we can use the sower and tub again

and the last new thing that we have is a new car! I have about a whole book I could write about how we ended up buying a Toyota Sequoia. but the short vertion is that John and I decided we needed to get a car for me ASAP and We went to our favorite car dealership (Home DEPOT parking lot) and picked out a very reasonably priced older Toyota Sequoia and drove it home that night. I LOVE it.  (this is not the actual car in the picture I just pulled it off the web but it is white and it looks almost just like this.)
