Outside work and play

We finished our patio!  Rocklond helped push all the sand into the cracks. whenever we have worked on the patio rocklond always plays in the sand. this probably amounts to about 2-4 hours of sand play a day for the last month.

the patio would't be complete without some furniture. we got all of this At big lots for about $120.

the most exciting part was renting a massons wet saw.  I let john handle all of the brick cutting because I knew I would come away one finger short if i tried to use it.  it was really fun filling the pieces he cut into the patio.

now that all the work is done we have just been playing. we got a cool little chair for my bike so Rocklond can go on bike rides with us.

aren't they so cute!

and here is rocklond after he found mommy's mascara. he is so observant he knew where it was supposed to go.

Brick Patio

In this picture you can see that we are almost half way done. we got the brick at around 7:00am and started working at 8:00 this picture was taken at 12:00

After letting our piles of sand sit for about two weeks I finally ordered the brick and we got to work putting it in. John moved all of the bricks to the back yard and I leveled the sand and put in the bricks. beside the bricks being really rough and cutting up my hands It was so much fun and so rewarding.

Rocklond had a blast playing in the sand with his trucks. we were outside almost the whole day and he never got tired of rolling around in the sand.

after lunch and a rest we went back out to finish.  we were able to get the rest done a lot faster because I had figured out a few tricks of the trade. one of those is to wear gloves. the gloves that I was wearing ended up with so many hole in them I had to turn them around just so they would continue to protect my hands.
now all we have to do is get more brick(we ran out) and cut it to finish the corners. then sweep the remaining sand into the cracks.

we put the edging on our patio

Rocklond learned how to put it in before I had even shown him.

then we moved the whole pile of sand. you can see the pile of the sand in the background. I somehow misplaced the picture of all of the sand in the backyard.  now john and I just have to agree on if we are doing brick or flagstone.
